Computers in Art
Several decades ago, computers used only by scientists and mathematicians. Today, computer technology has become the property of writers, artists, musicians and representatives of other professions in the world of arts. Computer-creator helps write books, draw, compose songs, create special effects in science fiction films.
Not so long ago, two popular U.S. writer – Stephen King and Peter Straub – decided to join together and write a story. The only problems that hinder them to implement this decision was the fact that they lived in different states – Maine and Connecticut. What did they do? They began to work together with the help of electronics, which connected to processors via modems and telephone lines. Combining the creative efforts of authors to succeed, their story “Talisman” was published in 1985.
Recently, more and more professional writers use word processors to improve quality and accelerate its work. But not only novelists like King and Straub, but also journalists, technical writer, writers, authors of textbooks (including the authors of this book), as well as many others are using computers at work with texts. The word processor is much easier to edit and verify text. In addition, it relieves the need to reprint the texts and thus saves time. Finally, the use of special software helps identify and eliminate typographical errors and syntax errors.
